Locomation Explains How Lidar in Trucking Works

This is our 4th episode talking about all of the new technology in trucking--especially when it comes to autonomous vehicles. But what's the story behind what's powering the ability to use these trucks on highways without sacrificing safety? A key aspect to getting more autonomous vehicles on the road to help with supply chain challenges is a technology called Lidar--which I've known about for a while because of the possibilities and discoveries made while using Lidar in archeology. So I was really pumped to see it being used in trucking. Locomation’s COO Glynn Spangenberg was kind enough to join me live while at the Manifest conference and gave us a breakdown of how lidar systems are being used on their autonomous truck--which the company says can dramatically increase capacity, improve asset utilization, and lower costs for the supply chain overall. Links from the showFollow Glynn Spangenberg on LinkedinCheck out Locomation’s websiteLocomation Explainer VideoCheck out these shows next: How to save old trucks with Edison MotorsTargeting the Autonomous Middle Mile with GatikThe State of Autonomous Vehicles In Trucking...

How Rahmel Wattley Upgraded Truck N' Hustle's Content Game

There are few in trucking that create more high-quality and high-value content than Rahmel Wattley. He's the creator and host of Truck N' Hustle--a top-rated video podcast helping entrepreneurs get into the trucking industry and grow their operations. What I love about Rahmel is not only does he fly out to each of his interviews to conduct them in-person, with his own broadcasting equipment, but he covers all aspects of trucking in addition to semi-trucks, with every interview he conducts. So think last-mile vans, waste management, dump trucks, and more. In this episode, I'm chatting with Rahmel for the second time around to catch up on what he's learned from all the entrepreneurs he's met with since the last time we spoke--along with how he's continuing to grow his content team and raise the quality standards for content, not just for himself--but an entire industry. Listen to Rahmel's first appearance on the showFollow Truck N’ Hustle on YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and TwitterVisit Truck N’ Hustle’s websiteListen to these shows next: Getting attention in 2022Website + Marketing Must-Haves for 2022The Most Important Thing You Can Add To Your Website TODAYHow to Make Customer Interviews Your Secret Marketing WeaponCreating Buyer Personas That Don’t SuckAnd the role of marketing operations that helps to tie ROI in with the creative experiments you want to run...

Healthier Choices for Truckers with Mark Manera

I don’t think I have to tell y’all that trying to eat healthy on the road is a challenge. Now imagine your job is to be on the road. All. The. Time. You have little body movement and when you do have to move around, the work is strenuous. That’s what our nation’s truck drivers are facing on a daily basis and it’s time we start addressing it. In this episode, we’re breaking down a new focus for our nation’s truck drivers–diet and exercise on the road. That’s why I invited Dr. Mark Manera on the show. Having spent extensive time in health and wellness, he switched his focus to truck drivers by offering solutions to eat healthier and get workouts in while in your truck or standing outside of it. Drivers are able to access an app that tracks their goals and companies are incentivized to offer it as an overall benefit to joining their company. It’s a great discussion on something that has a direct impact on our nation’s drivers that also has a direct correlation to keeping them on the road and our stores stocked with merchandise. Check out The Trucking Fitness Company websiteFollow Mark Manera on Instagram, TikTok, Linkedin, and his podcast. Search by topic and check out all our past episodes of the Digital Dispatch podcast—right on our website. ...

How Shay Dixon Uses Social Media To Connect with Carriers and Shippers

For the first episode of Cyberly back in March of 2021, I felt it was really important to highlight the folks who are out here killing the content game. So it was a no-brainer to invite Shay Dixon, CEO of Allegiant Logistics on the show.Shay is one of my favorite follows on social media because she genuinely cares. She cares about her business, her employees, her family, helping others grow–and she shows it all over her social media with Instagram, Tiktok, Linkedin, and more. She drops so many gems in this episode such as how she connects with carriers on social media, why she prioritizes company photos to highlight how her company is different, the importance of getting involved with organizations like Leading Ladies of Logistics, and more. If you’re looking for a good case study on how you can use social media in 2022, look no further than this conversation with Shay. Links from the show:Follow Shay on InstagramConnect with Shay on Linkedin...

Retention Is The New Recruiting

There’s an awful lot of noise being made about the truck driver shortage. But like most things in life and politics--it’s usually much more nuanced than the surface-level discussions. This is what I discovered while in Texas giving a speech covering “Retention is the New Recruiting” which helps trucking companies use content marketing to ease their hiring woes. I’m breaking down multiple ways to use driver interviews to find any pain points you might be missing so you can stop those pain points right in their tracks and also highlight the drivers who want to share their stories. Links from the show: Watch the speech to see the slidesSlides and bonus material from the speechListen to these shows next: Making trucking cool again with Adam WingfieldTrucking's training problem with Desiree WoodHidden opportunities with retention with Driver ReachGetting Driver Feedback with WorkhoundWorking with truck driver influencersDrivers deserve more than a social media post...
